What to know about the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards

Latin Mafia reveals their song with Rauw Alejandro comes out — tonight
Speaking on the red carpet, Latin Mafia tells TODAY.com they’re so excited they’re almost nauseous.
The trio, nominated for best new artist, is comprised of brothers Mike, Emilio and Milton de la Rosa.
At the red carpet, they revealed their song with Rauw Alejandro — “a banger” – is going to be released tonight.
Karol G stuns in aqua at Latin Grammys
Karol G made a stunning appearance at the Latin Grammys. The Colombian singer, who is up for eight awards, made a heart shape as she posed for photos on the red carpet ahead of the ceremony.
Karol wore an aqua gown that draped down and had a full train and a bejeweled bustier.
Carlos Vives brings down the house with the night’s first performance
Honored as the Latin Grammys’ Person of the Year, Carlos Vives opened the show with a medley of some of his greatest hits.
At one point, the camera turned to Karol G singing along passionately to the chorus of “Volví a Nacer.” Vives also sang “Fruta Fresca,” “La Bicicleta,” “Tierra Del Olvido,” among others.
The set ended with other legends joining Vives onstage, including Juanes, Fonseca, Sebastián Yatra and Camilo. Juanes is expected to perform again.
Kali Uchis says the highlight of her year was ‘giving birth’
Kali Uchis is up for four awards at the 2024 Latin Grammys — but she says that her recognition wasn’t the highlight of her year so far.
“Becoming a mother was the most important thing,” she told TODAY.com at the Latin Grammy red carpet.
Uchis, 30, and her partner Dan Tolliver welcomed a baby boy in March.
“You are everything we could have hoped for and more,” she said in an announcement post, in part.
The Colombian-American singer is up for record of the year, best pop vocal album, best pop song and best reggaeton performance.
A look back at the 2023 Latin Grammys
The 2023 Latin Grammys were just as star-studded and energy-filled as past years’ ceremonies.
The 24th annual celebration took place in Seville, Spain, on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023. Once again Edgar Barrera led the list of nominees, while Shakira and Karol G began the night with seven nominations. All three won multiple Latin Grammys.

Carlos Vives is the 2024 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year
The Colombian singer is this year’s Person of the Year at the Latin Grammys. He is being honored for his over three-decade career as a singer and composer, as well as his “continued commitment to environmental and social initiatives,” according to the Latin Recording Academy.
“I am honored and moved to have been chosen as the 2024 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year. It is the reward for an authentic journey, for a wonderful team and, above all, it is the recognition of the musical spirits of our Latin American diversity,” Vives said in a press release. “These spirits taught us to love and enrich our language, to take care of it and to respect it in order to exalt humanity with it.”
Among his many accolades, Vives is an 18-time Latin Grammy winner and two-time Grammy winner.
He also created the Tras La Perla initiative “to promote the sustainable development of Santa Marta and its ecosystem,” the Escuela de Música Río Grande that offers arts to children and young people, and he founded record label Gaira Música Local to promote new Colombian talent.
A day before the Latin Grammys, the singer was honored at his own gala, which included performances by Edgar Barrera, María Becerra, David Bisbal, Rubén Blades, Emilia, Emilio Estefan, Gloria Estefan, Fonseca, Luis Fonsi, Juanes, Sebastián Yatra and many others.
Anitta, Becky G and many more are set to perform
The Latin Grammys are sure to be a star-studded event. During the three-hour celebration stars like Anitta, Becky G, Kali Uchis and more will take the stage.
Other performers include Edgar Barrera, David Bisbal, Eladio Carrión, DARUMAS, Emilia, Alejandro Fernández, Luis Fonsi, Leonel García, Grupo Frontera, Juan Luis Guerra, Carín León, Danny Ocean, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Carlos Rivera, Elena Rose and Ela Taubert.

So will Pitbull, Reik, Ángela Aguilar, Leonardo Aguilar, Álvaro Díaz, Tiago Iorc, Quevedo, Residente, Myke Towers, Trueno, The Warning, Pepe Aguilar, Chiquis, Goyo, Mon Laferte, Nathy Peluso, Rauw Alejandro, Alejandro Sanz, Gloria Estefan, Juanes and Julieta Venegas. Phew!
Jon Bon Jovi and Joe Jonas will also perform and DJ Khaled will make a special appearance.

There are a number of artists who are up for awards tonight. Edgar Barrera is the most nominated artist of the night with nine nominations. Bad Bunny and Karol G are up for eight each.

When are the Latin Grammys? Here’s how to watch
The 2024 Latin Grammy Awards are taking place at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Thursday, Nov. 14.
The show starts at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. Ahead of the ceremony, a one-hour pre-show will begin at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.
The Latin Grammys will air live on the channels Univision, UniMás and Galavisión, and stream on the Spanish-language streaming platform ViX.
