HARRISBURG, Pa.- El Comité de Políticas Mayoritarias de la Cámara de Representantes tuvo una audiencia conjunta con el Caucus Legislativo Latino de Pennsylvania hoy, miércoles, para destacar los impactos económicos de la inmigración en Pennsylvania.
“Los estudios muestran que los hogares de inmigrantes en nuestro estado aportan miles de millones en ingresos fiscales y gastos de consumo, y en mi distrito, su impacto económico es inconfundible”, dijo Danilo Burgos, representante del estado de Pensilvania.
Habrá un declive económico si la población inmigrante de Pensilvania desaparece, según el caucus.
El director político de la coalición de inmigrantes de Pensilvania dice que es crucial que esta legislatura no sólo apruebe políticas acogedoras para apoyar a los inmigrantes, sino también para luchar contra las propuestas que apuntan a la deportación.
“También quiero destacar a los inmigrantes indocumentados que, contrariamente a la creencia popular, pagaron 135 millones de dólares en impuestos estatales y locales, ahorrando al estado 6.4 mil millones de pérdidas en el producto interior bruto”, compartió Julio Rodríguez.
Hablaron de algunas pólizas que quieren hacer posible.
Un proyecto de ley para ayudar a brindar acceso a licencias de conducir para todos, un proyecto de ley que proporcionaría subvenciones para que los lugares puedan contratar más médicos que tengan visas, un proyecto de ley para ayudar a la gente a conseguir visas, y mucho más.
Quieren que la población migrante se quede en Pensilvania.
“Entre 1992 y 2019, como resultado de la disminución de la población, el estado perdió $106 mil millones en ingresos”, agregó Rodríguez.
Hablé con la gerenta de La Bicicleta Arepa Bar en Allentown. Ella piensa que los inmigrantes han ayudado mucho a la ciudad.
“Nosotros tenemos también muchos clientes americanos. Un alto porcentaje, yo diría un 85%. No solamente va impactar a la economía local sino va impactar la diversidad”, comentó Claudia Canelón.
Ella dice que deshacerse de los inmigrantes no ayudaría al país ni al estado a avanzar.
“Yo pienso que lejos de ser algo muy ventajoso para la ciudad o el estado sería retroceder en el tiempo. Y la unión familiar y el amor a nuestras familias es lo que nos motiva y es lo que nos ha llevado a emigrar”, agregó Canelón.
Casi 1 millón de la población de Pensilvania son inmigrantes y si sacamos inmigrantes del país, eso afecta la disminución de la población, y Pensilvania ocupa actualmente el cuarto lugar en la nación en términos de pérdida de población, según Rodriguez.
