California firefighters make significant progress against wildfire east of San Francisco Bay
California’s largest wildfire so far this year was significantly surrounded Monday after blackening a swath of hilly grasslands between San Francisco Bay and the Central Valley. Police arrest pro-Palestinian demonstrators inside San Francisco building housing Israeli Consulate
Police on Monday arrested dozens of pro-Palestinian demonstrators for trespassing after they occupied the lobby of a San Francisco building that houses the Israeli Consulate. Police zip-tied the hands of protesters, put them in police vans, and drove them away. Officers arrested 69 people who refused to vacate the building, cited them, and released them from San Francisco County Jail, the San Francisco Police Department said in a statement.

The Israeli military on Monday confirmed the deaths of four more hostages held by Hamas — including three older men seen in a Hamas video begging for their release. The three men, Amiram Cooper, Yoram Metzger and Haim Peri, were all age 80 or older. BERLIN (Reuters) -The German army intends to order 200,000 more artillery shells from armsmaker Rheinmetall than it had planned, a letter seen by Reuters on Tuesday from the Defence Ministry to parliament’s budget committee. The army plans to get 200,000 additional 155mm artillery shells worth about 880 million euros ($960 million) within its framework agreement with the defence firm, the letter said. As Western governments beef up their military and replenish their stocks after supplying arms to Kyiv, Rheinmetall, whose market value has more than quadrupled since the war in Ukraine, is seeing a sharp increase in orders.
